Excite Chat 14+ years later.

Excite Chat Virtual Places used to be a very popular chat site in the 1990's till the early 2000's when it went defunct many,many friendships and even relationships got formed on there I lost touch with all my VP friends after 2001 I have no idea what happened to any of them. One of the saddest memories is my good friend Missy (she was a popular avatar painter from Florida) who lived in Lake George New York told me she had terminal cancer and was going to die apparently her chemo therapy failed and the doctors gave her less than 18 months to live I cried with her when I got the bad news. On a much happier note yeah I remember many people from back then one of of my best friends was Axidox (AX AX Baby) her real name was Amy she was a Graphics Arts Major from somewhere in Ohio we use to meet every night in this room that looked like a movie theatre with lots of chairs everyone came in the chat room and they had an actual live show with a celebrity or actor or or a singer with a host who would ask them questions and then the audience get to ask them a few it lasted about a half or hour or so we use to have a blast joking and laughing with the other people in the audience.

I don't have fond memories of the client software it use to crash an awful lot Hackers use to launch frequent flash attacks they'd freeze the rooms or boot everyone out en mass. If you are a VP veteran chatter you must remember the infamous avatars with lunch bags on their heads bag heads never got much love in VP! Excite Chat had a very,very busy virtual dating and social scene some guys would hook up with different women every night others played with fire and charmed three at a time but then one lady would talk to the other one they pieced it together and figured out they were all chatting and being charmed by the same one he'd get busted then he'd come back under a brand new name and the game would start all over people use to change their name's alot but everyone figured out the new identities because personalities tended to shine through.
